Always There

My friend is one who speaks to me
And takes the time to write
Who has a thought to spare for me
Whenever day or night.

The one who knows the faults I have
But does not criticize
And who is always at my side
To help and sympathize.

My friend is one who keeps me in
Her constant memory
And now and then will turn to God
And say a prayer for me.

A true friend is a gift of God,
and only He who made hearts
can unite them.
